ViewSonic N2750w 27-Inch NextVision HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV, Black from View Sonic. The list price is around US$899.99.
This is a follow-up to my previous review:
The picture died on me a month ago (Aug 07). It has something to do with the tv tuner. The LCD display and backlights are still great, but the TV tuner, which was always very very weak (bad signal and popping sounds), finally just died. I called Viewsonic several times in the year that I owned it, but they said it was normal, or sent me off on some bogus diagnostic goose chase. Two months after the 1 year warranty was over it died. DRATS!!! VIEWSONIC, YOU'VE FOILED ME THIS TIME. HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT PARTY WITH MY MONEY. I found a Samsung 32" as a replacement; out-of-box so I got it real cheap, and I spent the money for a three year warranty through the store! I love mail order, but sometimes you can really get screwed.

-----------------
The TV picture isn't as good as a tube (no suprise!), but the dvd picture as great!
Remote is ok, and the features are easy enough to find, but I can't find remote codes for a universal. I used a che...

Sony KDF-60XS955 60-Inch HD-Ready LCD Projection Television from Sony. The list price is around US$4399.99.
This is truly an amazing television. The below reviews sum it up nicely, but I'll take this opportunity to reinforce the positive feedback. I've had a few widescreen HDTV sets, and this is clearly the best. Sony did this one very, very right.

Syntax Olevia LT30HV 30-Inch HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV from Syntax Groups Corporation. The list price is around US$2299.00.
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R6532Q1V4YRR8 They work pretty good - but the problem is that after much much use - there is burn in issue - of course that is true with almost all LCDs. We have had no other problems with one exception. The tvs are very sensitive to low signal level. At 1080i - it doesn't like component switches or direct connects from the PS3. It cuts out and fritzs. I have a video of this I will try to upload.

I would also like to know if other people have firmware upgrades past the initial one that allowed the tv's to work with scientific atlanta remote controls???

Samsung LTP227W 22-Inch HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV from Samsung. The list price is around US$1899.99.
I spent a lot of time looking at different lcd tv models in the stores. The challenge, as always, was trying to find one in my price range that met my requirements. I was originally looking for a good quality, widescreen, HD-ready, lcd tv for around $1000. I soon found that it was hard to find a good widescreen below $1000. I looked at the off-brand models from Syntax and Apex and I just wasn't impressed with the picture quality. The brands that offered the best picture quality (at least to my untrained eyes) were Sharp, Sony, and this Samsung (some of the other Samsungs didn't look as good though). I am really happy with the picture quality and features of this model. It was easy to setup. I have never used component video inputs before now and it really makes a big difference. My only wish is that I could have gotten one with a larger screen.

Sharp Aquos LC-45GD4U 45-Inch HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV from Sharp. The list price is around US$8499.99.
The 45" Sharp LC-45GD4U is a spectacular LCD HDTV monitor, with superb picture quality that stands up to anything currently on the market. Unfortunately, despite being one of the first 1920x1080 displays, it's not as obsolescence proof as you might think as it doesn't support 1080p resolution at this time without major workarounds. In English, this means that next-generation DVDs won't be displayed in maximum resolution and some HTPCs will have problems. Still, this is a marvelous HDTV; its just that if you're paying this much for it you shouldn't compromise at all - meaning I mark it down 1 star - and the one-year warranty is skimpy enough to take another half-star off. If you want better protection against obsolescence, look at the LC-45GX6U, which has an easier 1080p workaround.

LCDs and plasma each have their own camps; plasma offers better blacks and brighter pictures, where LCDs are easier to break in, have longer lives with a fairly simple repair, and don't wash out in the sunlight. (Y...

Panasonic TC-32LX50 32-Inch Flat Panel LCD TV from Panasonic. The list price is around US$2299.95.
I was very hesitant in spending the money I did for this TV but felt my best buy was on Amazon.com. I have terminal cancer and decided to go for broke in spending the money. I have really enjoyed everything about this TV. The picture quality is excellent, sound is great and it had all the extras I was looking for in this size.

Syntax Olevia LT32HV 32-Inch Widescreen HD-Ready LCD TV from Syntax Groups Corporation. The list price is around US$2299.99.
I purchased an Olevia Syntax 32HVE last July 2005 on impulse. It was very inexpensive for the size and I knew could take it back if I was not satisfied. The picture quality has been outstanding from the start. No dead pixels. Suprisingly good audio and reasonably well thought-out features. When I finally set up HD using HDMI connections, it really shined! The picture is often breathtaking.

Today I connected my PC to it and it works well. I can criticize some of the limitations in PIP combinations and I really wish it had a separate audio input for VGA and HDMI, but I doubt the LCDs twice this price have all this TV's features.

One surprising thing about this TV. Almost everyone that sees it insists its 40" or larger when in fact it is a 32" model.

We have since purchased a second LT32HV in the family and are very pleased with the value for the money on both.

Sony WEGA KLV-S23A10 23-Inch LCD HD-Ready Flat Panel TV from Sony. The list price is around US$1199.99.
This is the first posting I've had on Amazon. So, this shows my satisfaction with the product. I purchased this LCD for our bedroom as a replacement for a broken CRT television. Shopping around, it was hard to find a better value. For the price point, you either have to jump up quite a bit to get a better quality/larger screen. Or, you go way down in quality and size. So, if you're looking to limit your purchase to under $1000, I think this is the best value! The prices out there are under $1000 for this TV because the market is pushing some of the newer models with better technology.

The quality on this set is better than all the ones I've compared. The only caveat for you is to make sure you have the right cables/splitters, etc when installing it. Try to find that out before you buy any of the newer TVs. Best of luck with your decision!

Sony KLV-32M1 32-Inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Television, Silver from Sony. The list price is around US$3999.99.
This 32" LCD by Sony is more expensive, but after comparing picture quality side by side with other LCD TV's, I decided to stay with a quality Sony product. This TV is rated #1 by Consumer Reports. I have DirectTV and using regular co-axial connection. The picture quality is excellent and I'm wondering if I need to upgrade to a DirecTV HD system. I plan to upgrade soon to get the full benefits of what this TV is capable of. Hook up was well documented for AV system, DVD player and VCR, when you read the directions. Remote is confusing at first. Watching movies from DVD player is great. Over all a great product.

Samsung LN-R328W 32-Inch Widescreen HDTV-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV from Samsung. The list price is around US$1999.99.
I was sold on this lcd due mainly to the unbelievable 3000-1 contrast ratio surpassing anything I could find in this price range. I am thrilled with the picture quality particularly in HD, but I have found most regular programming to be near HD quality...Maybe it's my particular cable system. The only drawback for me was that there were not enough component inputs for my needs, but I solved this by purchasing a component switch box at short money which added 4 inputs. I researched extensively before this purchase and by my standards this is the best out there. A. Lee Enz aka George Burgess
