Gateway DVS20 MPEG4 Pocket Multi-Cam, is made by Gateway. The list price is around US$199.99.
Well, at first it was a nifty little camera, but after a week, it something started to go wrong with it. I don't exactly know what it was, but now it won't turn on anymore, I tried new batteries and still nothing. The quality of the pictures is pretty good for being a 2.1 Mp, and its a nice little camera if you want to take pictures once in a while, but be carefull because they are defective.

DC DXG-301V Digital Video Recorder with MPEG4 & Digital Still Capability, is made by DXG. The list price is around US$199.99.
When I purchased this item, I was expecting a video recorder that can also take still photographs. Instead it is a still camera with video recording capabilities. The product name is misleading.
That does not mean that is a bad camera. In fact it is a great camera, if the user intends to use it primarily for still photographs. For video recording I would recommend something else. The resolution is only 640x480 and the results are heavily pixelated videos. The device also produces horrible monophonic sound recording.

Aiptek DV4500 4MP MPEG4 Pocket Digital Camcorder, is made by Aiptek, Inc., Usually ships in 24 hours. The list price is around US$99.99. (*The prices are subject to change) Street price is around $80.41.
I purchased this for my 10 yr old son. I was surprised at how, well, cheap it appeared. We took it out of the box and turned it on and it would not work at first, then it worked for about 10 minutes, then it never worked again and we had to return it. Amazon was great during the return process and refunded our money quickly. We ended up buying the DGX 5.1 MP from a local store i it's place. It has worked well for my son and is holding up to the rigors of youth. Not a professional photography instrument, but a pretty decent unit for him.

Mustek DV4000 MPEG-4 7-in-1 Multifunctional Digital Camcorder w/1.5-inch LCD and 4x Digital Zoom, is made by Mustek. The list price is around US$199.99.
I am very frustrated with this... You need to have super great lighting to get anything worth while out of this thing. Everything would be great.... But make sure to have major lighting. Its very finiky in that way. Other wise the pics are great (with proper lighting) as well as the video. Works great as a webcam how ever doesnt zoom while in webcam mode.

Mustek DV5500 MPEG-4 7-in-1 Multifunctional Digital Camcorder w/2.5-inch LCD and 4x Digital Zoom, is made by Mustek. The list price is around US$219.99.
I've had this camera for 6 days and I have already had to return it. It wouldn't stay on.....just kept shutting off. Mustek kept giving me the run around when I tried to return it, and then had the nerve to ask for 3 copies of my receipt. I can't tell ya how well the camera performs cause I haven't had the chancec to use it, but so far its a big fat Zero.

JVC Everio GZMC500 5MP 3CCD 4GB Microdrive Camcorder w/10x Optical Zoom, is made by JVC. The list price is around US$1799.95.
All one-star reviews on this camera come from Mac users. It's risible how they make a big stink out of nothing, for instance:
1. -"Why has JVC used USB 2.0 instead of Firewire, oh why?". Well, gee, USB 2.0 is more common than Firewire, specially if you live -like the rest of most people- outside the "Mac bubble". USB 2.0 is actually 480Mbps speed, and Firewire is 400Mbps!. So the choice was clear, and JVC rightly went with the more common interface: USB 2.0
2. -"Howdy, my MacOS-X can't play the video files generated by this camera, oh the horror". Answer: perhaps you should write to your spiritual cult leader Steve Jobs and tell him to fix the damned Quicktime buggy player!. Like some other reviewers have proved: the generated files can be played back both in Windows and in Linux using the open source Mplayer media player!.
Perhaps if Mac users had a clue, they would dump Quicktime and use Videolan player -also available for Mac OS-X- www dot videolan dot org which has no p...

Fisher FVDC1 3.2MP Digital Camercorder with 5.8x Optical Zoom (includes 512 MB SD Memory Card), is made by SANYO. The list price is around US$799.99.
I was very tempted to buy the Fisher CameraCorder, but the price was alittle high for what I wanted-- a digital camcorder to post videos on the web. After doing some research, I found the Sanyo Xacti [...]. Remember, the Fisher was released Nov 13, 2003 and is just getting over here now. The Xacti was released Aug 23, 2004, and fixes some of the bugs in the Fisher, with a larger LCD screen, updated CCD sensor, and image stabilizing technology. [...] I posted more info here if you are interested.

Samsung SCM105 MPEG4 Sports Camcorder w/10x Optical Zoom, is made by Samsung. The list price is around US$599.99.
Nice little camera, but Samsung Marketing people tended to obmitt a few of the shortcomings of it. First it hypes the external camera, but leaves out the fact that you cannot take advantage of zoom when you're using it or that you cannot take pictures with it. Resolution and lighting on the external leaves a lot to be desired and it's activation cannot be done from the camera (The record button is on the cable link). Also the fact that the camera DOSEN'T have Mega pixel performace when taking still pictures isn't made apparent untill you read the fine print. Battery life with the one that comes with the unit is really next to useless. The only reasion that I didn't send it back was it's size and portability.

Samsung SCX105L MPEG4 Sports Camcorder w/10x Optical Zoom, is made by Samsung. The list price is around US$699.99.
I bought this in July immediatly before I left the country for an extended vacation. I have been using it for paragliding and snowboarding since then. Overall I think it's a great idea, but suffers in the execution. I would not recommend buying it. Unfortunately I was away too long to be able to return it.
The good - size - simplicity of helmet cam - codec plugs into Apple framework - no requirement to use imagemixer if you're a mac person
The bad - video quality - battery life (internal & external) - DivX codec conflict (I had to delete all other codec's before installing imagemixer to make it work) - can't copy files back to the camera - provided straps don't fit any of the helmets I use - weather proof case doesn't close properly if camera is oriented to mount on top of helmet - photo quality
Even at the "super fine" setting, the video quality is extremely poor. Colours are muddy, frame rate is jerky, white bala...

Panasonic SV-AV50S 2MP MPEG-4 Camcorder w/2.5x Digital Zoom, was released on 2004-03-05, is made by Panasonic. The list price is around US$399.99.
This camera is a piece of crap.
It is poorly constructed (2 screws have already fallen out of mine) and it is repleat with poor photographic and videographic recording capabilities.
I bought one of these for my wife for Christmas 2004, and was severley disappointed in the quality of the videos and photos. Yes, it is a small, compact package, but I've seen cell-phones that take better pictures than this. I even purchased a 512MB memory card for her so that she could shoot some decent length videos, but the picture quality is so bad that she hardly ever uses it.
This camera doesn't even have a firewire connection (something I should have checked on before buying), so we can't download the videos to our Macs. The photos are often blurry and/or grainy (low resolution, even on the 'high reso' setting) and are really not the quality we are accustomed to. I have a Canon Powershot S40 that takes MUCH better photos (and up to 30 seconds of video) than this camera.
I will...
