Toshiba e405 Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003 from Toshiba. The list price is around US$299.99.
Just beware. I own an e335 model and am very happy with it. This time I bought the e405 for my wife and "surprise!" it comes without a cradle and a (vinyl) leather case. They are labled as "optional". The e305 vinyl leather case protected mine from an 7ft drop. You will have to spend another $25 for the case and $39 for the cradle. My gift was incomplete and Amazon doesn't sell these accesories as of today (4/29/2004).

Toshiba E350 Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003 from Toshiba.
After two Philips NINO in the early days and an HP Jornada, I recently bought the Toshiba e350, and I am quite happy with it. From the intro you can see that I am a Pocket PC user, just find this OS more appealing and easier to combine with my Windows based PC, and this was mandatory for me. The e350 is a very nice product, and I especially like: + the extremely nice color LCD screen (you can clearly read even in the brightest sunlight! It's truely amazing.) + the small form factor (the product is only 12mm thin) and nice sleek design + the good processor performance (it exceeds my needs by far) + the easy connectivity (I use the IR port at work and the cradle at home, both work excellent and are easy to set up) + and of course the good price point. On the negative side, there are only few points: - battery life is not great compared to both the NINO and the Jornada (I have to charge the e350 about twice a week) - a flip cover would be nicer than the pouch to protect the screen. ...

Toshiba e355 Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003, was released on 2003-06-24 from Toshiba. The list price is around US$299.99.
I was torn between getting the HP 1935 and the Toshiba e355. I finaly went for the Toshiba because of the faster processor speed and the one year warranty. But after one month I started to have problems with the system always coming up with errors. I called the tech support and they said that if I sent it to them they would work on it but it would cost about $100.00 so I figured I could live with the error messages. Then a tragedy happened and the screen got cracked. So I called to see if they would cover that and they don't cover the screen damage in their warrenty. That would have cost $190.00 to replace, so at that price I could just buy a hole new Pocket PC. One Year Warranty, I ask "WHAT WARRANTY?" I should have gone with the HP 1935 in the first place. I spent two hundred on a little paper weight because withthe cracked screen it doesn't do anything anymore.

Toshiba e740 Pocket PC from Toshiba. The list price is around US$599.99.
Despite early fixes from Toshiba, this PDA still has frequent problems with hard resets (you lose everything), loose batteries (you lose everything), and no support (cannot be upgraded). I am junking mine and moving to any vendor that shows they support their products (unlike Toshiba).

Toshiba e755 Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003, was released on 2003-06-24 from Toshiba. The list price is around US$499.99.
Oh, where to start! I purchased my e755 brand new from Amazon. Everything was going great. Big screen, fast processor, very cool! I purchased a toshiba cable to connect to a serial port. The cable would sometimes get stuck and on one occassion, taking it out actually broke the connector prongs at the bottom. It was still under warranty so I sent it off to Toshiba to get repaired. I get a call a few days later saying it's gonna cost $100 to fix? I'm thinking, WHAT? I told them I was using a Toshiba cable but it didn't matter. So, i forked out $100 for them to repair something that a Toshiba cable broke. (Just so you know, i have other cables that I use to sync up and they connect just fine ... no problems whatsoever!). So, i get it back and everything is great again. I use the Toshiba cable again (I was using it to hook up the PDA to my GPS for navigation) and noticed it was getting stuck again. So, to prove my point, i called Toshiba and they sent me an RMA to send it in. This time I include t...

Toshiba e310 Pocket PC from Toshiba. The list price is around US$399.99.
Truly a great PDA. The smallest one I've ever owned (3rd, of 4 total), and one of the fastest. Pros: -Tiny, light -Blazing fast -Long battery life -Bright screen -Very loud speakers for the size -Can run multiple (6-10) programs without major problems -Expandable through SD slot -Great for reading E-Books, several included on the CD -Sync feature is easy to use, yet allows to get contacts, notes, e-mail, even websites -Sturdy - A high drop (from a shelf in my book-case) did absolutely no damage -Inexpensive, great value cons: -Was hard to find a new unit (bought mine a few months ago, used), Toshiba stopped selling this, for whatever reason -32 MB means you might want to get SD card if you're going to be watching movies, I got a 256mb card, holds an entire movie in great quality, and still holds a bunch of MP3's -Doesn't come with headphones If you buy it, hope you enjoy it as much as I did

Toshiba e805 Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003, was released on 2003-11-19 from Toshiba. The list price is around US$599.99.
When I first took it out of the box, it didn't, but I thought that was because the battery needed to be charged. I did finally get it setup and working. It was beautiful. Then the screen started acting weird, I'd tap the scroll bar and the today screen would pop back up, or I'd tape the "next" button and a different program would flash and then go away and then back to the today screen. Sometimes I'd turn it on and the screen wouldn't respond, then all of a sudden it did again. It was getting so bad that I hard reset and still couldn't get the screen to respond. I tried calling Toshiba, who only offers 90 days tech support, and they said they'd have someone call me back. A week later, I called them again and a week later I called a third time. Finally, I couldn't get the unit to respond at all, so I called J&R (where I purchased it via Amazon link) and they told me to send it back. They'd check it out and IF they found a problem they'd exchange it and refund my shipping fee. A lot of hassle for a very expens...
