Sony Clie PEG-SJ33 Handheld, was released on 2003-02-28 from Sony.
I am a long time palm user. First the Palm IIIC, then the Palm m500, then the Sony Clie SJ-22 and now the Sony Clie SJ-33. I have been using this SJ-33 since May of 2004 when I got it on a closeout sale for $149. It was the best deal on electronics I have ever received. I love the fact that I can sync outlook, word and excel documents. It helps with my work as an engineer greatly. The other thing that is great about this little handheld is that the Dragonball processor has more than enough juice to play movies. Little known fact about this handheld is that you can burn dvd's (using PocketDVD) and then convert them to .pdb format using Kinoma Producer 3 to watch full length movies on this palm. As far as I know it is the only pre Palm OS5 device that has the horsepower to do this. Granted, you have to buy PocketDVD and Kinoma Producer, and I recommend a 256Meg memory card to hold one movie but even with these costs you get the functionality of a much newer machine. The battery life is excellent, especial...

Sony Clie PEG-TJ37/U Handheld from Sony. The list price is around US$299.99.
The TJ37 is, when it's working, a pretty nice PDA. The camera is so-so, but OK as an added bonus. Don't expect anything other than a blurry, blotchy sort of pic out of it though. Battery life is mediocre at best. The stylus is actually painful to use for more than a few minutes.
On the other hand wireless works well, although it's a battery hog, making a bad situation worse. The screen is clean and bright enough. The form factor is great. I love the roller wheel.
The TJ37 uses a Sony memory stick as addon mass storage, which is a minus. SD would have been better. The screws holding the unit together backed out and disappeared, and Sony wants $$$ for them.
After a year, mine started crashing hard and the only way to get it back is with a hard reset. Even after running it with just the pre-installed apps, it still crashes. Sony wanted more to fix it than it was worth. So it sits on my pile of dead hardware while I use a Tungsten E2 and enjoy hugely better battery li...

Sony Clie PEG-NX70V (Silver) Handheld from Sony. The list price is around US$499.99.
This thing has more buttons & bells than I'll ever use! I'm glad I bought a book "How to use Your Clie". The included paperwork doesn't begin to explain everything you can do. Screen display is sharp & clear. I like using Graffiti to enter data rather than the keyboard. (You have three entry methods to choose from.)

Sony CLIE PEG-UX40/U Handheld, was released on 2003-09-21 from Sony. The list price is around US$549.99.
I love it the first time I saw it, using the excelent services of Amazon.com I have it in my hands in couple of days. I changed from a nice Hp 1945 Pocket PC to Sony UX-40, but I'm not sure if was a wise idea: 1. The screen is too small to have a comfortable sight 2. Keyboard is nice in size but I don't like the feeling of the keys. 3. It's not cheap, and the software provided is very limited, if you want to use the other software provided, you have to pay. 4. Quality of photos is low 5. You have to carry the cradle if you want to charge it in your car with the proper adapter. Very nice looking device but maybe is oriented to a younger market (but the price is not oriented to it) I will give it a couple of weeks, if not convinced, maybe my wife can give me back the Ipaq 1945

Sony CLIE PEG-TJ27 Handheld from Sony. The list price is around US$199.99.
I purchased my Sony PEG TJ27 and it worked great for the first 6 months then the battery died, then the screen light phased out. What a nightmare, Spend the extra money for a PALM, you'll be much happier.

Sony Clie PEG-UX50 Handheld, was released on 2003-09-12 from Sony. The list price is around US$649.99.
Finally, a handheld that offers everything built-in that is extra with most other handhelds! Surf the net, take a picture, and play games, as well as a built-in keyboard. I LOVE this Clie.

PalmOne IIIxe Personal Handheld Organizer from PalmOne. The list price is around US$199.99.
I still use my palm IIIxe.. bought it in 2001 from Amazon. Actually this is my second one, my first one bit the dust, so I bought a refurb for $39.00 and it synced up with the 4.1 OS... it is great for addresses and calendar + todos... I also type memos with a keyboard when I'm in the field. Also this is used daily from am to pm... at night I dl avantgo and read news from the otherside of the world before bed...
I'm a broadcast engineer with high end editing systems that I built myself and I keep watching for something that I can replace this workhorse with, but no go so far! The long battery life and using nimh AAAs is the clincher, just can't beat the little rascle.
The HP jornada line with the instant on and long battery life have caught me eye, but I don't care for windows CE.

Reconditioned Palm IIIxe, 8 MB, OS 3.5, Stylus & Serial Hot-Sync Connector from pa1mOne (Reconditioned).
Yes, I know it's obsolete and no longer pretty. But it's practical, you don't need to be near a charger. [2AAA's] Battery life is great and you can do amazing things with this thing. And they're tough. It took a great deal to destroy my first one: I dropped it and then dropped heavy objects on it. (not intentional) I've dropped the replacements many times and they've survived. Abuse is the only reason for needing replacements. If you don't care about color screens, and you want a nice, clear screen (backlit for use in the dark) and a very useful little machine, look out for these -- even the used ones have managed to last and work wonderfully) (I have 3, two in storage, one in use) (I have looked at many of the newer ones and can't see a reason for them, despite the beautiful stuff...) Battery life for one thing. And I can go camping and still have books to read, and if I have spare batteries, no charging is necessary. Now if only my XP worked as well as my Palm OS.... Sigh...
