Re-think before you buy
Rating: 1/5 2008-06-21
I purchased this TV/Monitor about 1 1/2 years ago. I have not had a very good experience with it. For several months I couldn't turn it off because to turn it on again it might take several frustrating minutes (or longer) to get it turned on and to stay on. If you can get it to stay on, keep it on or go through the frustration to getting it on again. The other thing that I have to say is that if you are going to use it as a monitor I wouldn't recomend it because, believe it or not, it does burn images in it of different things. Yes, some of them dissipate and others I am still waiting for them to go away. When I play solitare I have to keep moving it or it will burn in, in about 2 minutes or less!

I have had other monitors made by Viewsonic and that is what led me to this one but this one is nothing like what they made in the past! It does have a lot of great features but they need to put those features into a better TV/Monitor!!! The HDTV part is great if that is what you are going to use it for once you get it to stay on.

Do yourself a favor and really re-think this model if you are interested in it.
Good TV, Decent Montitor, Jack-of-all-Traits.

I have been using the Viewsonic N2750 for about two years now and have nothing but good things to say about it. This TV/Monitor has served both purposes; as an HD TV and a computer monitor.

As a TV, the color is full and quality is decent. Obviously we are not talking about a full-blown HD unit here as far as quality goes, but for our purposes, which is to move it around where we need it in the house (home office computer, family room tv fill in) this product fits the bill.

As a monitor, we felt the picture was not as clean for use with our computers, but there are many options for hooking up devices and the viewing area is great.

We give this product 4-stars for it's good quality overall and versatility.
Great timing for the warranty period
Rating: 2/5 (1 out of 1 think this is helpful) 2007-12-13
I agree with just about everything people are saying on here about this TV. Great picture, tons of connection options and, yeah, having no remote codes is a pain. I got this to use as a combination TV/PC Monitor and the picture was more than fine - until last week. This just happens to coincide with the 13th month of owning it. Started noticing dark streaks on the blue screen you get when the set is switched to an unused input. Now the picture, as TV or monitor, is just fading slowly - darker and darker. At this rate, I figure I only have a week, maybe two, before I'm back in the stores looking for a new TV. I'm hoping this is just a case of getting what you pay for. I bought it because it looked like a bargain price for it's size and the options. But $500 a year for throw-away televisions doesn't seem like much of a bargain to me.
To top it all off, it seems Viewsonic is quite pleased to have my money. The emails I've sent to get some help have been simply ignored. That's pretty good considering what I read on their home page.

"At ViewSonic, we are devoted to customer satisfaction and committed to positive relationships with every company and individual with whom we do business. We strive to understand your interests and concerns, and treat you with respect, courtesy and consideration. ViewSonic's customer and technical support are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Yeah, right...
My N2750 failed twice within 13 months
Rating: 2/5 (3 out of 3 think this is helpful) 2007-06-15
I bought my N2750w in April of 2006. In October of 2006 it started flaking out until all I would get is a blue screen and sometimes sound. It was not very heavily used - my wife and I just used it to watch the nightly news in our bedroom. The warranty return went without a hitch - I dropped the set off at the Walnut, Calif. headquarters, and about 3 weeks later the TV showed up at my front door. We put it back into the bedroom. Roughly 8 and a half months later, it just stopped working - turning it on results in nothing - no lights, no sound. I called Viewsonic, but because it is now more than a year since the original receipt, it is no longer under warranty. I used to think Viewsonic made high quality products, but to have two failures in 13 months sort of makes me think otherwise. So buyer beware - for $800, I was expecting this LCD TV to last more than 13 months. Viewsonic gave the number of a local out of warranty service center. I'm still wondering if I should get it fixed or not.
Good for the price-Follow-up: IT'S DEAD
Rating: 4/5 (3 out of 3 think this is helpful) 2006-06-19
This is a follow-up to my previous review:
The picture died on me a month ago (Aug 07). It has something to do with the tv tuner. The LCD display and backlights are still great, but the TV tuner, which was always very very weak (bad signal and popping sounds), finally just died. I called Viewsonic several times in the year that I owned it, but they said it was normal, or sent me off on some bogus diagnostic goose chase. Two months after the 1 year warranty was over it died. DRATS!!! VIEWSONIC, YOU'VE FOILED ME THIS TIME. HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT PARTY WITH MY MONEY. I found a Samsung 32" as a replacement; out-of-box so I got it real cheap, and I spent the money for a three year warranty through the store! I love mail order, but sometimes you can really get screwed.

-----------------
The TV picture isn't as good as a tube (no suprise!), but the dvd picture as great!
Remote is ok, and the features are easy enough to find, but I can't find remote codes for a universal. I used a cheap programmable remote to input all the features I wanted; it took about 20 minutes, and it works fine. I had to do the same thing for my dvd player and some of the features on my vcr: lesson learned- buy a programmable remote! (less than 20 bucks).

The input options are easy to find, if somewhat limited. I am able to adjust the settings to get a pretty good picture. The info on the manual is very limited, but it appears that each input remembers its settings, so you don't have to readjust the TV input when you switch from the DVD input.

Beautiful cabinet, and small footprint for a 27" widescreen. FYI, the picture is about 50% smaller than a 27" square tube for a standard 4:3 tv broadcast, but it's about 18% larger for a widescreen (16:9) broadcast or dvd.

Strange problem: the remote doesn't work if the backlight is set to 'dark' or 'medium', but it works fine of it is set to 'bright'. I guess I'll be shipping it back to ViewSonic to get it fixed. Otherwise, I am very happy with this machine for the price.

Amazon.com Product Description
Equally exciting in the living room or the den, ViewSonic's N2750w NextVision 27-inch TFT active-matrix LCD television is equipped to render high-definition images from your computer as well as from a DVI-compatible DTV set-top box/receiver. It also offers powerful image-enhancing technologies, intense colors, high contrast, 1,280 x 720 native pixel resolution, and powerful speakers with virtual surround sound capability.

The N2750w's direct-digital DVI (Digital Visual Interface) with HDCP (high-definition content protection) ensures long-term compatibility with evolving HD technology. Video games and movies come to life with the set's super-fast 16 ms response time, which produces smooth motion video. A high-brightness LCD panel, 600:1 contrast ratio, and 130 x 110-degree (horizontal/vertical) viewing angles combine to further enhance the overall visual experience.

LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (with no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be more affordable than their flat-panel plasma counterparts, which often (though not always) offer faster response times and higher contrast ratios.

The N2750w's integrated NTSC tuner grants convenient off-air reception of standard-definition programs, while its powerful audio system (10 watts per channel x 2) benefits from SRS surround processing to simulate rich, full-bodied surround sound from just 2 speakers.

Compatible with analog and digital PC and Macintosh computer systems, the television also offers component-, composite-, and S-video input connections, as well as the DVI terminal mentioned above. Full, single-tuner picture-in-picture and split-screen functions let you preview 2 video inputs simultaneously. The set comes with a matching remote control and can be easily attached to a wall using an optional mounting kit.
