Was nice while it worked, which wasn't long. Stopped recognizing dvd's after a few months. I've since bought an LG unit and it's a night and day difference. Cheap price for cheap junk.........so dig a little deeper and get a nicer unit.

I bought this DVD player for our trip to Disney. The unit worked as expected and we had no problems there. The surprise came after 4 months using this player a few minutes a day in the car. The DVD would take a LOOONG time to load and sometimes the video would freeze for a few seconds. I tried several DVDs, all ORIGINAL! At some point this device just gave up. I can't get it to play anything. It just gets stuck on the "Loading..." screen.
After trying to contact Audiovox for a warranty repair I had an unpleasant surprise when I found out that Audiovox only gives a 90 day warranty on their products. Aside from the fact that their website is useless when it comes to getting warranty information, their customer service reps were almost laughing when I mentioned "Warranty repair". I paid $100 dollars for this P.O.S. and they wanted to charge me $75+2 way shipping for repairs. That's just ridiculous...
Audiovox, say goodbye to my business as I say goodbye to this crappy and disposable DVD you sold me. |
Great for the Money

Great for road and flight trips. The black carrying case strap is an absolute joke. Did not even last through three uses. Otherwise, highly recommend. For the money, you are getting a solid product that keeps the kids happy while mom and dad try to drive and or sleep. I am most impressed by its durability...we have dropped it twice in the car and it does not skip when the kids are fighting over who gets to hold it. It is also compact and light. Easy to carry around.
Good quality for a good price

We love the dual headphone jack and 2 pair of headphones. Only complaint is that without the headphones, the volume does not go up high enough and is hard to hear over car noise even at full volume.
Product Description
Audiovox Electronics 7" Ultra Slim Line Portable DVD Player with Bonus Pack of two folding headphones, remote and carrying bag that doubles as a headrest mount. Perfect for travel # D1708PK
Amazon.com Product Description
Take a mini home entertainment center with you wherever you go with the Audiovox D1708 portable DVD player. This special-edition player includes a bonus pack consisting of 2 sets of folding stereo headphones, a credit-card-sized remote control, and a carry pouch that doubles as a headrest mount for the player--perfect for travel. The D1708 comes with built-in stereo speakers and also features dual headphone jacks so 2 people can watch or listen to a disc simultaneously, on the bus, in the car, or wherever.
The D1708 features a 7-inch TFT active-matrix widescreen display with aspect ratio control so you can choose 16:9 for widescreen movies, standard 4:3, or a switchable option. It plays DVD-Video, CD, and MP3- and JPEG-formatted discs for a variety of options--even controls for how you'd like your JPEG digital photos to transition. DVD features include multiple angles, multilingual subtitles, parental lock, and slow motion.
The included rechargeable NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) battery offers up to 3 hours battery life so you can watch even the longest movies and not worry about losing power. The battery takes about 5 hours to fully charge, but unlike its lithium-ion counterparts, you don't have to fully charge and discharge the battery between uses to preserve its life.
Composite-video and stereo analog-audio inputs and outputs let you hook up additional AV gear for viewing through the D1708, including camcorders and gaming consoles. All audio and video inputs and outputs are of the minijack .125-inch size, so compatible adapter cables are required (a combination stereo analog audio and composite-video cable is supplied).
The D1708 also comes with an AC/DC power adapter and a DC vehicle cigarette-lighter power adapter.
