I was aiming for a digital voice recorder, but after checking a few price tags and reading the reviews for this one, I decided to go analog. These are my two cents: Amazing. I use it mainly for classroom lectures (I find that going through the parts of the lecture I was asleep through *does* help :). I sit at the very back of the classroom (room that fits about 50 people) and I don't use the external mic. I just press the record button and leave the recorder next to me. I use the so-called _low quality_ setting (slow tape) to extend the recording time on my tapes, and this recorder picks up the sound of the chalk on the board as clear as day! I can pick up the Professor's voice crisply and clearly, even on the slow mode.
