Excellent Boombox! ! !

I originally bought the CFD-S350. Immediately I noticed that the Mega Bass did not put out any bass at all. Within one week I returned the CFD-S350 and bought the CFD-G500. It cost me $40 more, but it was well worth it. If you desire a lot of bass, then don't waste your money on the CFD-S350. The CFD-G500 is a super deal at $99. I am very satisfied with the CFD-G500.
I think it's great!

I definately think this is the best Sony boombox you will find. The sound is great, it's much more like a stereo system, than the others, by Sony. Although kind of bulky, it has an attractive design, but most importantly, it sounds great! This is definately the Sony boombox to get!
Good but noisy!

It's a very good boombox for a small party or work place, but if you use it with headphone or put it at your nightstand, you will hear noise that I personally can't accept. I bought it twice but had to return it after I heard the noise. You don't have to believe me but try it with your headphone when you go buy it in the store. I compared it with many other boomboxes or mini-systems and didn't hear the noise.
This Baby Is Solid, Excellent Bose Sound, WELL WORTH IT!!

I had a Sony Boombox back in 1986- and this year it finally crapped down on me. I would put in brand new CD's and it would act up, and tell me there was no CD there. And it started to skip on tracks. So I said, to hell with it, I'm getting a new boombox. And I was SO surprised when I saw this baby. It's a SOLID, WELL MADE Sony product. You are getting more for your money than you'll realize, until you pop in a CD and it feels like being in a club- the bass is pounding, and it comes with a remote control - so if I'm here typing away, and I want to listen to my CD again, it starts right back on. I HIGHLY reccomend the Sony CFD-G500 CD RADIO CASSETTE RECORDER BOOMBOX. GET ONE BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE LEARNS HOW EXCELLENT THEY ARE!
Bulky boombox but great sound

Despite it's bulky, clunky look this boombox delivers surprisingly crisp sound clarity and 'boomy' depth. I chose it because it featured an audio input(hard to find on moderately priced boomboxes), which I use for satellite radio and it has the wattage to deliver the goods.

Amazon.com Product Description
Sony's CFD-G500 CD/radio cassette recorder offers a compact chassis, several sound-enhancement options, and remote-control convenience--not to mention an aggressive, black-and-red power-drive design. Stereo 4-inch speakers are augmented by a third, 4-inch Power Drive Woofer, all driven by a powerful 20 watts RMS total. The unit's CD player uses a one-bit digital-to-analog audio converter with 8x oversampling for pristine sound, and audio CD-R/CD-RW compatibility means the boombox will play your home-brewed music mixes as well as prerecorded CDs.

The CFD-G500's digital AM/FM stereo tuner offers 30 station presets (20 FM, 10 AM). Four electronic sound modes (rock/pop/jazz/vocal) let you tailor the sound for listening to various different types of music or in different environments, while the unit's unique Power Drive settings (off, 1, and 2) enhance low-frequencies in any sound mode. A cool red light atop the device indicates PDW-on status.

A remote control with 10-key direct-access buttons works for CD tracks and radio presets, while various CD play modes (program/shuffle/repeat) let you hear tracks in multiple ways: in sequence (as recorded), in program order (up to 20 tracks), all tracks in random (shuffle) order, or as a single track repeating over and over.

With synchronized CD/cassette dubbing, CD playback commences just after cassette recording begins. The stereo record/playback cassette deck provides direct recording from either the tuner, the CD player. Meanwhile, an analog minijack (.125-inch) stereo line input lets you hookup anything from your laptop to an MP3 player or a portable DVD player. The unit runs on the supplied AC power cord or six D batteries. The remote uses 2 AA batteries (no batteries are included).
