A quiet computer costs a lot of money, it's even more expensive than a powerful computer.

If you want to buy a cheap but powerful computer, you might want to consider buying the cheapest one advertised but keep doing it for every year.

The most reliable computer is one who die when you expect it to die, not one that gives you nasty surprises

The Sonata II case is guiet and practical, but the quality is so so.
That's the conlusion I got about a week ago when my Anitec True Power Supply finally died.
I search through the net, it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. Many people shared my experience. The power supply work ed for a while , like a year or two and then it died. Even the no name generic power supply last longer than that.
The problem may be related to the capacitors. Many of those "Made in China" capacitors have quality problem. So there are some power supply manufacturer try to use the "Japanese capactors". I bought a new power supply, Seasonic HS500. Unfortunately, it's the older version still using the Chinese capacitors. The problem for them is they don't die right away, they die slowly, but surely... Well, the good news is, changing the power supply is much easier than I thought...

A disaster happened to my computers.
First my secondary computer died.
It's configuration:
Abit Motherboard (5 PCI, 1 AGP port)
Celeron 1GHz
640MB RAM (I know it's kind of weird)
ATI All in Wonder 16bit
9 GB Quantum Harddrive (extremely noisy)
Deluxe no name case (worth $99 back in 2000)
And it was bought in around July 2000
Here's the symptom:
When pushing the power button, nothing happens.
Diagnostic:
So I think it must either be the power supply or motherboard.
If the motherboard died, I would had no other options but to buy a new computer (don't have the patience to fix it). If the power supply die... well... I'm too lazy to figure that out, so eventually I decided to buy a new computer (seeing that it's about time, and I do have some spare money to spend).

I have two options:
1) upgrade my primary computer and use my current computer as a seconardy computer
2) buy a cheap secondary computer
My primary computer has the following configuration:
CPU: Intel 2.6GHZ 800MHz FSB with Hyper threading
Motherbaord: Asus P4P800 Deluxe
RAM: 512MB x 2 Dual Channel Kingston "cheap" value RAM
Video: ATI All in Wonder 9000 64MB
Harddrive: 1 Seagate 120GB ATA, 1 Seagate 120GB SATA, 1 Western Digital 200GB SATA
Case: Sonata Quiest CASE
Cooling: Zalman CPU FAN, and VGA Heatpie (so it's a silent PC)
Bought in August 2003
Well, I begin to look for candidate for my potential computer.

Almost every motherboard manufacturer has jumped upon the SFF market after watching Shuttle's lead and for good reason; it breaks the traditional computer mold of being a plain beige box and gives a computer a bit of a flair stirring up a lot of consumer interest. The novelty of the SFF design also allows for higher margins with a board and case combo running in at close to the 300$ mark as opposed to some of the same motherboards coming in at under 100$. Neoseeker has a review for the Antec Aria case, you can read the reviews from:

The quest for a silence PCI Express Video Card... Rbmods had reviewed a heavy weight card from Gigabyte in the left ring corner with a silent pipe cooling technology that weighs in at an amazing 400 grams. Can it stand up against the other "heavy" weight cards in the right ring corner? See the review at...

But I can't find this product in my local shop. So I gave up...

My another option is to buy a cheaper but more capble PCI express card than the ATI PCI Express X600 Pro...
So I looked into the X700 reivew:

I saw the ATI ALL IN WONDER X800XT AGP MULTIMEDIA VIDEO CARD in the local shop and it looked very interesting:
I read the review from:

It's an excellent review... until the end, I found out it was an AGP card.... dah.... I need a PCI express... so my quest to video card goes on.
Oh, this product also include an excellent remote wonder 2, you can read the review at:
